Hi Mia,
How are you? There was once you asked me to tell you about a place in Singapore, I have decided to start this blog so that it will be easier for me to tell you about Singapore’s oldest residential estate, Toa Payoh.
You would be wondering where this unique name comes from it is a Hokkien language reference to a big swamp. (Hokkien is a dialect used in Singapore)

It is shocking to know that Toa Payoh was a notorious squatting district but now it is one of the most known places of Singapore. The squatters had different occupation form farming to domestic helpers, soon in 1962 the squatters started leaving and the redevelopment was able to commence in the part of 1964 since the redevelopment was completed ,Queen Elizabeth visited Toa Payoh twice once is 1972 and in 2006.
There are some interesting landmarks in Toa Payoh which I would like to introduce to you.The first one is actually a playground. It is named as a 'Dinosaur Playground' as there is a big dinosaur model there.Besides, the playground is quite old and a lot of people like to go there as there is plenty of space of exercise.I bet you are wandering how does the playground looks like, here's the picture:
isn't it nice??
Singapore’s first sensory park
The commercial development, HDB Hub, located at the Toa Payoh Town Centre was completed in 2002. It is home to the Housing and Development Board’s headquarters and integrated with Singapore's first fully air-conditioned Toa Payoh Bus Interchange as well as the Toa Payoh MRT StationIt is a very crowded place where people like to go there shopping or eat.
This is the HDB Hub......
The picture below is a street of the Toa Payoh Mall. There are many small shops to hang out with your family during the weekend. There are food outlets like, Koufu Food Court and tasty delights can be found in hawker centers also known as Kopitiams.

There are also some well-known schools in Toa Payoh.I am studying in First Toa Payoh Secondary School this school was the first school that had been built in Toa Payoh and so it is called 'FIRST' Toa Payoh Secondary School. It has served the educational needs of pupils in and around Toa Payoh for the last 30 years.......

All of the above landmarks have made me enjoy living in Singapore so much. The second reason is that Singapore is a multi-racial country where there are Chinese,Malay and India.Hence, living in Singapore helps me know more about other people's culture as well as their religious.
